Run 1045 Report

Lakeside Hash House Harriers The drinking club with a running problem

Run 1045, 30 June 2004 – Lakeside HHH AGM Hare: Committee run Venue: Middle Park Bowling Club (off Canterbury Rd, Middle Park)

After the gathering of the clans, the pack set out on a stormy night on a trail set by Whippet. We visited the sacred sites of Lakeside history and geography. Then along to the back streets of South Melbourne and Port Melbourne and when we had all just about had enough we were suitably rewarded with a drink stop and lamintons huddled around a beachside kiosk.

Then back to the on-home to cooling beers and a sumptuous feast provided by Mr Potato. When the circle began the outgoing committed were rewarded with Gerbils paraphanalia as were those who put in special efforts for events during the year. Then the out-going GM read out her annual report. Some members of the new comittee were called up including Kockup, Janus and the less-than-willing Rolf Harris. What happened next is best explained by Gerbils herself in a email sent out the next day

LSH3: so, who is the new gm? Good morning all,

Thank you to all of you who came out on a particularly nasty Melbourne winter evening (I vote we move the AGM to summer!).

And to those of you who didn’t make it – we missed you!

I have taken the bold step in appointing 3 Directors instead of a GM – but don’t think that this means you lot can bludge while they do all the running around!

I expect them to manage the week to week running of Lakeside Inc.  And that might mean that they don’t actually do the job itself!

It means they should ask you to help out by being hash horn, or scribe, or haberdash, or checking chicken, or grog master, or sergeant, or RA, or to sell the raffle tickets and collect money, or buy the raffle prizes – or one of the many tasks that need to be done each week.

I know exactly how hard it is to commit to 52 weeks of one job in Hash – but I figure 1 week or 1 month or 1 quarter in a job is much easier to factor into the busy lifestyles we all seem to have now.

It means it is time for all Lakesiders to do a little more than setting a couple of runs per year….

I certainly will be volunteering to take on a task when I return from Interhash.

On On till August. Gerbils.
