Run 1216, 18 July 2007 Hare: Lubag Oz Venue: 18 Grove Rd, Hawthorn

Arrived at The Lus’ gorgeous Hawthorn abode with reception room, drawing room, ballroom, grand dining room, grand rumpus room.

It was a cold, dark, rainy night as the pack took off through the Hawthorn back lanes. LuBang follows The Shah’s philosophy which is to max the suffering by having the pack miserable for 2 hours. At least we passed some very swish real estate along the way. Hawthorn is the city that never sleeps – the Hawthorn City Band was banging away and a parking inspector was being mean at 8pm.

When the pack was at the point of exhaustion and the rain bucketing, Prince, Klingon and LotsaFun decided to do the run again by following the arrows backwards. LotsaFun is the terrier of Checking Chickens, following trail to the bitter end. For the first time ever, Cheesecake told a fib and pretended to be ON so Lotsa would stop looking for trail and come home before midnight.

TigerMoth stayed back to “help” LubeOil by carrying glasses of red wine from the kitchen to the garage. LubeOil did a fabulous job with dinner – rice, extremely yummy beef rendang, satay salad, heaps of carrot cake – although it was a fight to the death to get at the beef seeing as how it’s E&B’s favourite.
