Run 1463, 02 Nov 2011 Hare: Flem Venue: Jolimont Station BBQs

Flem’s Birthday Run

A massive pack of 30 hashers assembled at the children’s play ground just up from the Jolimont Station. The MCG hovered above reminding us of Geelong’s recent win over Collingwood in the 2011 Grand Final. Dare not mention the result in the presence of GG. It was a typical Melbourne evening – cold, snow threatening with a possible thunderstorm. Wild Thing was a surprise visitor but opted out of the run as she had just completed two laps of the G as part of her ‘boot camp.’

Flem held the pack back as latecomers staggered in, keeping us shivering until 7pm or thereabouts. The run started with a half lap of the G, around the Rod Laver Arena and then up river to the Punt Road Bridge. After that it was 35 minutes of Richmond Street running highlighting the 19th century architectural era. The run took just over an hour and covered 6.35km.  Gaga and Gecko (a visitor from Samurai Hash in Japan) managed to multi-skill by running and walking and taking lots of photos throughout the run.

LotsaFun, Nickleby and Astro brought up the rear having been stranded in a dead end street on Richmond Hill. The pack enjoyed two pieces of delicious pizza each before Flem decided to order more for the ravenous group. He vanished before the heavy beer drinkers noticed with frustration that the esky had run dry.  Apparently Flem had a spare carton in the boot of his car that was now on its way to the local pizza shop 10ks away.

The Circle

The circle started during the meal break, but SOAS struggled to get the hungry and thirsty pack to quieten down so he sprung a surprise down down on Cheesecake whom he accused of not being a paid up member and for mimicking him….what the hell!!! He then handed over to the General as Sgt at Arms, hoping that some decorum may be restored to the circle. The General then started the longest circle in hash history with a record of 33 down downs (some mentioned below). Even the arrival of the additional pizzas and more heavy beers failed to stop the General from “marshalling” the pack until Cheesecake’s pre-emptive strike on the pizzas was discovered.

What happened to the run repor….did I miss something? It appears that the Shovel (lets drop the shit) had forgotten that there was a run because he was a non-starter. I have awarded the run 30/33….well done Flem and happy birthday.
