Run 1594 Report

Run 1594

Date: 12/2/2014

Hares: Udder Idjit/Gargoyle

Location: Brighton Beach Gardens opposite Brighton Beach Station

It was a nice day for a hash run. Overcast but not too hot with a slight sea breeze to make it very pleasant. The run instructions caused some problems for at least two members. Namely Chrome Dome and Nashie both of whom failed to find the site in time for the run. Evidently Google Maps does not know of Brighton Beach Gardens. It is clearly marked on Melways albeit in small letters. For those who have been there before the instructions seemed clear enough and it never occurred to me that they could cause a problem. However with at least two people having trouble finding the venue something must have been unclear and I apologise for the fact that two people missed the run.

I enjoyed the run and commend the hare for keeping the pack together. After the food (Gargoyle supplied the dip she is famous for and Udder had beetroot (which I have come to expect at an Udder run) to go with the salad and cold meat the circle was held.

First two long absent returnees in Lethal and Peanuts were welcomed back with a drink and a song. The run report was delivered by Cut Loose who gave it very good marks. The run started along the beech before ducking up and across Beech Road catching the GM and Prince out as they had foolishly checked along path covered in loose sand. The run then went up Gould Street and turned to follow beside the rail line. We finally crossed the rail line where we met one of the lost souls (Nashie) wandering around looking for the run site. It then zigzagged around Brighton before a long stretch down South Road and back along the beech front to the On On.

The GM then told the following joke

On a crowded train, travelling from Paris to the South, a U.S. Marine on furlough walked the entire length of the train looking for a seat before realizing that the only seat available was currently occupied by a well-dressed, middle-aged French woman’s poodle.

The weary Marine asked, “Ma’am, may I have that seat?”

The French woman just sniffed, and said to no one in particular, “Americans are so rude. My little Fifi is using that seat.”

The Marine walked the entire length of the train again, and discovered that the only seat available was in fact the one currently being occupied by the poodle.

Trudging tiredly back, the marine arrived once more before the French woman and said, “Please Ma’am, may I sit down? I’m very tired?”

She snorted, “Not only are you Americans rude, you are also arrogant. Why should I care if you are tired?”

This time, the Marine didn’t say a word, but simply picked up the little dog, tossed it out the train window, then sat down.

The woman shrieked, “Someone, defend my honour! This American needs to be put in his place!”

An English gentleman (could easily have been Udder) sitting nearby spoke up, “Sir, you Americans seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You hold your fork in the wrong hand, and you drive your cars on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you seem to have thrown the wrong bitch out the window.”

Then followed various charges

Special Runs: Pointy 848, Lube Oil 202, Gringa 69, Mothball 469.

Cut Loose: A reward for doing the whole run

E&B: For burning Cooch off when biking here and arriving some 15 minutes before him. Thus embarrassing him so he was ashamed to stay for the circle.

GM: For not using No Balls hash name.

Cling On: For giving a drink to Cheesecake when she was not charge

Cheesecake: For drinking same

There were other charges but I have forgotten exactly what they were.

Announcements: Full Moon Run on Sunday

!600th hundred run and 30th birthday celebrations on 26th March.

The GM announced he was going to Interhash and would be away for the next 4 runs (cheers) and the Deeper would be acting in his absence (groans)

The evening ended with the singing of the Lakeside hash song. Thank you to Udder Idjit and Gargoyle for an enjoyable evening of hashing.
