Run 1819 | 6th December 2017 | Tigermoth/Mothball@The Moth’s Palace

RUN 1819 REPORT

HARES: Tiger Moth & Mothball

THEME: Mothballs 70th Birthday

VENUE: The Moth’s hideaway.

Yes, it is a bit further to drive out to the Moths, cursing all the other idiots on the road during the tail end of the peak, but when you walk up on to that big rear balcony you just know that it was worth it and you’re going to enjoy the night. As always, the Moth’s put on a great run with a memorable drink stop and food to match.   The lights and decorations created an ambience fitting for the occasion and the outdoor lounges provided some welcome relief for the legs of the older hashers.

The run was not too long and there was a great drink stop just before home. The excitement of the evening could not be contained until after nosh and there was a spontaneous burst into the birthday song.  Happy 70th Birthday to Mothball.

WALK REPORT: By Codpiece                   Scored 69/70

The walkers went left, then right, then left, then right, etc through the streets of Ferntree Gully, separating from the runners and rejoining in time to get to the drinkstop. There was Mothball with his traditional rum punch, Doritos and a big tray of dip made with a couple of cream cheeses with tomato & cheese topping.  It was a great walk and everyone enjoyed it, especially the drinkstop.

RUN REPORT:  By Cyclone Tracy              Scored 69/70

The run got off to a great start, being downhill, but it soon started going up. The runners left the walkers early, but rejoined soon after and trail went through the Mountain Gate shopping centre before getting into the streets and several walking paths in and around parks.  Checks were well spaced and placed and together with a few on backs managed to keep the pack together for most of the run.  A few managed to talk, run and walk, in deference to the LH3 song, but still managed to keep up with the FRB’s.   Apart from the beginning and end it was a flat and pretty run without any big road crossings and was very enjoyable.  The hill climb at the end was very steep, but admittedly it was only about 20 or 30m long.

SPECIAL FOOD REPORT: By Old Boar     Scored 140/70 (It really was that good!)

Lakeside hashers were in a good paddock tonight. The Caribbean inspired dishes combined with the South American influence resulted in a delicious curry and a lentil dish together with some very warm chile sauce for the adventurous.  This was all topped off with a crème caramel to finish.  The coup de grace was the fresh grated nutmeg on the rum punch at the drink stop.

MILESTONE AWARDS PRESENTED TO:

  • Cooch: 700 runs
  • Codpiece: 200 runs (and you had to be there to hear the story about the embroidery on the ‘bottom’).

CHARGES:

HARES: Tiger Moth & Mothball.

MUG OF THE WEEK: Presented to Mothball and Tiger Moth for the 70th Birthday celebration run.

RETURNEES – Tiger Moth, Udder Idjit, Gargoyle, Cyclone Tracy, Codpiece, Old Boar and Kokup.

SARGENT CHARGES / CHARGES FROM THE FLOOR:

  • Palindromic & Special Runs: Lotsafun on 669, Lethal on 434, Mothball on 535 and Udder Idjit three score and ten.
  • Mothball: 90% of the run was into the sun adding to ageing hashers wrinkles & it was a trip hazard.
  • Udder Idjit: Self (or jet) propulsion on the run.
  • No Balls: Significant FRB, who thought there was sand (fresh grated nutmeg) in the rum punch & subsequently wasting good rum.
  • Kokup & Backbeard: Jinxing Cyclone Tracy by walking and talking about all of their past broken bones.
  • Udder Idjit & Point Post: So, the Poms were going to whip our cricketing arse.  Took one for the team.
  • Swingers: There is nothing ‘esteemed’ about the GM.
  • Cyclone Tracy: Huge predictions of catastrophic rains resulting in a big community event in Albert Park being cancelled.  Instead, they had blue sky and sunshine.
  • Mothball: Already has 17 mugs and they were all on display.
  • Prickly Bush: A very secret birthday last week.
  • Codpiece: Waxing lyrical about the rum punch.  Peanuts put down her rum punch and turned away for about half a second, but that was all Codpiece needed.
  • Tiger Moth: Must have laid a dozen eggs tonight (or was it 13) and cackled accordingly.
  • Cut Loose: Went to a hole in the box (or was it a hole in the wall) during the walk.
  • Udder Idjit: Out of character by running the whole run without shortcutting or doing the walk trail.
  • Codpiece: Tripped on an invisible step after laughing at the ‘oldies’ tripping on it earlier.
  • Kokup: Making an absent hasher feel guilty for not yet paying for the Christmas Party, resulting in Cut Loose having to go to an ATM to pay on the hasher’s behalf so she could sleep tonight.
  • Peanuts: Had enough rum punch to loosen her tongue and lead us in song in true Salvo’s tradition.
